Responsibility for Building Regulations and Control

51²èÂ¥ do not deal with Building Regulations and Control, as this is a function of the District Councils. In 51²èÂ¥ this is dealt with by two Teams:

South 51²èÂ¥

brings together the Building Control services of , and into one Partnership.

North 51²èÂ¥

brings together the Building Control services of , and into one Partnership.

The above teams ensure that building work is carried out in accordance with the Building Regulations. 

These Regulations are made under powers provided in the Building Act 1984, and apply in England and Wales. Their main purpose is to ensure the health and safety of people in and around all types of buildings (e.g. domestic, commercial, industrial, new housing, and schools).
