Evidence base and background papers

Three new reports have been published to support the preparation of the Local Nature Recovery Strategy:

The 51²èÂ¥ State of Nature Report 2023

Coming 5 years on from the publication of the 2018 51²èÂ¥ Biodiversity Action Plan, this report sets out the threats and challenges facing nature in 51²èÂ¥ today, presents facts and statistics on the current status of locally important habitats and species, and celebrates some of the success stories and projects being delivered by conservation groups across the county.

The State of 51²è¥’s Grasslands

A collaborative project undertaken by 51²èÂ¥, Natural England and 51²èÂ¥ Wildlife Trust, this report compares data from the 51²èÂ¥ Grassland Inventory (surveys undertaken largely during the 1990s and 2000s) and the 2021 51²èÂ¥ Habitat Inventory, to interpret the changes which have occurred in semi-natural grassland type, extent, protection, management and condition. It is the first phase of a more comprehensive review of 51²è¥’s important semi-natural grasslands.
