Information on the work for LCWIP taking place in Redditch

Have your say

To inform the Council's approach to providing walking, wheeling and cycling improvements in Redditch, a public engagement exercise is currently underway, asking for people's views.

We would like to know how these routes might encourage more walking, wheeling and cycling in Redditch. The routes have been identified within the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIPs) for Redditch.

As many people as possible are encouraged to have their say by accessing the online maps and survey.

The engagement exercise starts Monday 16 September and closes on Friday 25 October 2024 closing at midnight.

Your feedback, local knowledge and insights will be invaluable in understanding the challenges and opportunities for the priority network for making improvements to the walking and cycling routes in and around Redditch.

If you require assistance completing the survey, staff at Redditch Library are happy to help you fill it out or alternative formats of the survey are available on request by emailing: LCWIPs@worcestershire.gov.uk.

What happens next?

After the engagement exercise has finished, all comments will be reviewed and duly considered. Whilst we are not able to respond to individuals, an Engagement Report will be published on our web page, including a summary of key themes and issues.

Our response to each theme or issue will also be shown in this report. Where appropriate, the draft Redditch Local Cycling and Walking Plan will be amended and following adoption, published on our website in winter 2024.

Proposed routes

From the LCWIP network of routes in their draft report, ten primary routes were identified by Sustrans. Of these, five primary routes have been proposed to be of the highest priority to deliver the most benefits, in addition to the town centre walking and wheeling zone.

Pre-Public Engagement on the emerging routes 2023

Thank you for your feedback on the emerging route proposals for the Redditch Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) undertaken between 27 October and 24 November 2023.

The draft LCWIP sets out an indicative 15-year delivery programme which aims to prioritise those routes which offer the greatest benefit to the local community, encouraging more walking, wheeling and cycling.

The information from the 2023 engagement process has helped inform a draft Redditch LCWIP produced by Sustrans. This LCWIP has identified an extensive and ambitious active travel network for Redditch comprising:

  • 10 primary cycling routes
  • 11 secondary and 12 link cycling routes
  • Redditch Town centre walking and wheeling network

For reporting purposes, this LCWIP distinguishes cycling from walking and wheeling routes, but any cycling improvements will also consider walking and wheeling.

A summary report of outcomes can be found here, together with our response to the key themes: Redditch LCWIP Public Engagement Report 2023 (PDF).
